Hey there! My name is Samantha Deschamps, most call me Sammi. I am a wife, mother and photographer. Those aren't the only things that define me, but they do take up a great deal of my time. Especially being a mom of 3 girls. I'm a bit of a chocoholic, who isn't..right? LOVER of Wednesday night TV on ABC and dream of being a good baker...comes from watching too much Food Network. I'm a confessed Etsy addict, both for my girls and my business. I am a bit of a perfectionist and "chatty cathy". I hug a lot and blush when receiving compliments, but love them ;) My clients become friends and makes my world a bigger, better place. I truly, truly love what I do! As a Professional Custom Portrait photographer, I specialize in newborns, children, highschool senior & bridal photography. You will always get the most personalized service, custom designed products and beautifully presented portraits.You will never get anything but my best and it's a pretty high standard. What helps me create my art? I use Canon professional cameras along with Canon's professional line of lenses with the latest in processng software and only the best professional labs available. I am forever educating myself to help me and my business do the best for my clients. I know I have neglected my poor blog, but in the height of Senior Portraits, I have a good excuse. My third year as a HS Senior Portrait Photographer, this has been such an amazing year. I adore photographing Seniors, especially from the area where I started it all. It’s reassurance the 45 minutes to see me isn’t so far after all.
Sarah, the youngest in her family was my first senior girl this year. The hectic world of relocating gave me doubts I would be able to get in the full swing of Senior Portraits this season, but Sarah told me she knew she wanted me to take her portraits when she saw images of a senior friend from last year. What a fantastic compliment. I feel as though I have more then a professional relationship with my clients and meeting with Sarah and her Mom, Carol proved just that. Thank you so much for choosing me to capture these truly important portraits.

Last week the first round of my brand new Newsletter went out. This will be sent out every few months. If you signed up after the initial mailing or need to sign up, here is the special I announced..I was going to wait until Saturday, but my weekend is very busy and I don’t want to forget!

My new Red “Lola” Epiphanie camera bag arrived today! I absolutely love it! My old camera bag was really not my style. It served it’s purpose well enough, but always seemed bulky and not comfortable. My Epiphany bag is just my style… truly gorgeous and very well made. It will fit my canon cameras and L lenses just fine. This way, my camera can really go everywhere! I am a hypocrite.. I admit it. I don’t necessarily feel like my “likes” on fb defines my business. However, being in a new place, I would like to see some new faces too! Word of Mouth has been my biggest, amazing advertisement. I am so thankful when people do refer me. It makes me feel all warm and gushy inside knowing the love of my chosen career makes people happy and they love and appreciate custom portraiture as much as I do. In a business where most prosumer cameras’ price points are pretty reasonable and having a photography “business” is easy as addding “photography” to your name, it’s a challenge to set yourself apart. Thankfully I have a client base that truly can, at a glance, know the difference. I HEART all of you that do.. THANK YOU!!!!

My PSA to end this post… Please be sure to seek out a professional photographer/studio for your Senior portrait experience. A Professional will know how to get the most from your Senior’s session. They will have the professional equipment and most important, the knowledge and training to use it. Professional Photographers will know how to deal with many lighting situations. They will know how to professionally edit & retouch when necessary. Many hours of training and investment have gone into professional software. They use only professional labs and they are calibrated to their labs color requirements. Do they have a website or blogsite? Look at their portfolio for consistency in their images. Blurry, soft images with obvious color and lighting issues are probably a good indicator a “photographer” needs more training and skills. They may use lingo, like “photo shoot” but a “pic” is not a replacement for a professional portrait.
I first discovered MillieLee Designs while doing one of my many “window shopping” afternoons on Etsy. I fell head over heals for her beautiful creations. The dresses were simple with a flare and the patterns classic and gorgeous. Something I look for when shopping for my girls. Did I mention Milli Lee’s dresses are also Organic? Organic, made in America and supporting a small business, love it!!! Etsy is the place I shop first when I am on the look-out for everyday clothes that also photograph well and I can hand down from girl to girl. I am not a “trendy” Mommy, sometimes this disapoints my girls, but I think they will grow an appreciation for all things classic and timeless. There seriously isn’t a day that goes by when we don’t get compliments on the girls’ appearences. Comfortable, yet beautiful is my standard. Yes, my girls are allowed to play in the mud, go barefoot and climb trees, just not in Etsy treasures. lol.

I was truly excited to meet this handsome little man. I was a referral from his Auntie and so honored to photograph this once-in-a-lifetime session. We were able to capture him sleeping and oh-so-sweet and awake to interact with Mom and Dad for thier portraits together. Thank you so much “K” Family.. I am so happy you loved his portraits as much as I do!

We work with you to use complimentary colors and any information you want to include. These are 5×7 flat, double sided announcements and include envelopes. I am loving all the beautiful colors available for Fall dressing this year. Purples, Burgundy and Grey seem to be every where. Almost anywhere you shop or in your very own closet, I am sure you will be able to find coordinating your family will be easier then you thought. It’s all about staying within the same color tones and complimenting hues. I will have a few more ideas coming your way next week! The trees which line my drive-way remind me that Fall is knocking on our door. It still may be August, but everything is quickly changing.
