Perfect weather, gorgeous girl…love my job! Ashley makes my job seem easy at times. We have this way of communicating. I barely finish my directions and she is already in place. She knows exactly what I am looking for as an artist and photographer. Anyone who has had a session from me gets instructed at the very beginning I tend to be super chatty. I have so many thoughts going through my mind about the session from beginning to end that I like to think out loud..a lot. I have been told it helps my clients relax, as ackward silences are never a good thing. lol. I was able to use my new, bigger studio and backdrops, one custom handpainted by an amazing artist. The lighting outside was to-die-for. Seriously gorgeous! Thanks for looking! :)

Oh, 2012 Seniors.. Now booking into July! $50 session with unlimited image choices when ordering your portraits. Senior Portraits are really important as they mark one of the most important times in your lives. Make sure your portraits are something that will last a life time and photographed by a professional. Do your research, educate yourselves. As much as Aunt Mary loves to use her camera, and her intentions are good, she is just taking a snapshot. Lighting, posing, processing and hundreds of other things that go into a portrait are what professional photographers can provide. If you are going to a “professional” make sure they KNOW their stuff…editing can’t undo critical lighting errors and unflattering composition. sam@aroundthebendphotography.com Visit my exclusive Senior Site Here

Still trying to blog when I can. I am going back and fouth between homes now. Hoping there is a light at the end of our moving tunnel. lol. Sessions are still happening, newborns coming up and HS Senior sessions. I am already booking fall sessions, very excited people are thinking ahead. I am currently booked until the week of June 17th. It can take planning, but thinking ahead and booking early will guarantee dates and times for everyone. Since sessions are limited each week, I feel bad when I have to tell people dates they inquire about are taken. Please make sure to plan accordingly. I am adding amazing backdrops to my collection. I have one currently on it’s way I have waited 5 months for, handpainted by the very talented Becky Gregory. She often has a waiting list and I am sure it will be well worth the wait and investment.

From my busy April, this beautiful girl has the most stunning blue eyes. Thanks J Family! :)

May 7, 2011

It’s been the most amazing last few weeks for my studio as I welcome new and past clients. The most mini-sessions I have ever scheduled and I couldn’t have been happier to see such beautiful kiddos. Moms really did a wonderful job dressing them for the occasion. I am always happy to help coordinate clothing and give suggestions…and Moms really went all out! Of course for the little girls, I can’t help but add my own touches to a few portraits. Being a mom of 3 girls myself, you could say I am a bit addicted to accessories and all things girly. ;) The girls weren’t the only ones to shine though, boys bring a presence all on their own and really do melt my heart. I will be sharing more from my sessions over the next few weeks.

Mini-Sessions at Around The Bend Photography are only done a few times a yr. Usually in the Spring and Fall. The Spring Sessions are reserved for the kiddos and Fall includes families too. I know it’s only May, but keep an eye out for my Fall sessions, usually anounced in August. I am slowly transitioning over to a new, bigger studio in Monroe, NH. The town is also so beautiful and places to photograph are everywhere!

November 28, 2010

I felt a kinship with Justin and his family the moment I met them. His Dad, a former farmer reminded me of my own Dad. Actually Justin’s Dad has this sense of humor that keeps you on your toes. He was a big help in getting his son to relax. I have found Senior boys to be a little more difficult in this area. Portraits aren’t something they prefer to be doing. I caught Justin during a busy time in his schedule as well. An all around athlete, it was the end of his soccer season and they were going into playoffs. Our afternoon turned out to be a beautiful one. We ventured on his family’s land were wooden structures and waterfalls surrounded us. This is where he and his dad spent many summers building and clearing paths as part of a boyscout project. It was perfect to be able to incorporate those surroundings. I loved the stories they had to tell. Thank you A family! Good luck Justin in your very bright future.

November 17, 2010

Each session has it’s unique experience. I have a great time with each Senior, but I have to say I absolutely had an awesome time this particular afternoon. I brought along a great friend and fellow photographer from New Hampshire and I laughed so much my face actually hurt. We strolled downtown Stowe for 2hrs with this beautiful girl. A perfect, fall day and a busy one none the less. Stowe was the busiest I have seen it, but that didn’t stop us from finding some amazing backdrops. The biggest compliment was from Olivia herself. She had told me she didn’t know what to expect…being so relaxed and having fun was a pleasant surprise for her. YAY! I wouldn’t have it any other way. After all, these aren’t your Mother’s senior pics! (as they say ;) )

Here is just a smidge of our day…another session where narrowing down my favorites was agonizing.

October 12, 2010

I traveled nearly 65 miles to take this beauty’s senior portraits. I arrived at her highschool to an amazing site. There was a track and field event taking place and  a reported 2500 students taking part, coming from all corners of VT and NH. Maya took me to her locations around the school and some around the town. The weather was awesome, the locations beautiful and the session a blast. I seriously love my job and love giving seniors an amazing, relaxed experience.

September 17, 2010

I know I say this a lot, but I LOVE photographing seniors..especially girls. No offense to the guys out there. Hey, a girls gotta have her favorites right?! Girls like to have fun with hair, makeup, a little modeling and that is just what I like too! Kayley isn’t a local Senior but vacations here with her family. She was in Vermont visiting and emailed me about a senior session. I made room for her, because I can’t help myself..lol. We started out in Greenboro and worked our way to Hazen Union Highschool and then to downtown Hardwick. The rain held off until the end, which was perfect! Oh and she was referred by one of my reps who earned print credit and so did she. Love when that happens! Thanks again Kayley and thanks to Kayley’s Mom for being a super helper when mine got distracted..lol. ;)

What To Wear-Fall|Northeast Kingdom Vermont Family Photographer|Around The Bend Photography

September 15, 2010

Fall is my favorite time to photograph. The wonderful colors give us an amazing backdrop for sessions. I also love the dark jewel toned clothing of the season. Coordinating your family can be a challenge and my guides will give you ideas on how to get everyone looking spectacular for your portraits. Portraits are an investment, one that never decreases in value, but rather become priceless. Overtime poor clothing choices can date a portrait. Make sure extra effort is given, be aware that logos should be avoided as well as the super trendy. Classic and timeless are always a better choice. The ideas in my guides can be used by high school seniors as well. :)
